Developing a new quarry would not be a good idea as it has profound impacts on the wildlife in that area. For example, creating a quarry involves removing almost all of the natural vegetation, top soil and subsoil in order to reach what is underneath. This is detrimental to the environment as it leads to the loss of biodiversity, through killing plants, and aquatic habitats, as well as killing a majority of the wildlife that live there and depend on this biodiversity. In addition, when quarries are dug, many caves are unearthed causing a change in this environment as temperatures change, light changes, and this can also cause cracks and even caves collapsing.
