Cinematic techniques are used by directors all around the world to establish and achieve a wide variety of effects. Tim Burton is no exception to this statement. He uses many different techniques throughout all of his films to achieve different effects and receive different reactions from the viewer. Director Tim Burton uses flashback and low key lighting across films to make the viewer feel connected to the characters throughout the films and portray a dark and mysterious mood. Burton uses flashback in Edward Scissorhands and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in order to allow the viewer to create a deeper connection with characters in the story.
