Have you ever heard this saying “attention is expensive that’s why it’s easier not to pay.” I was taking a course last fall with a few friends. The class we had sign-up for had a lecture that didn’t allow internet devices and was very keen on his rules. After he explained his reasons and gave the class a challenge, he said that the people who discarded the devices will get higher grades verse does who keep using they phones. I decided not to use my devices but my friends differed and claimed that they are great at multi-tasking. “Multitasking reduces your efficiency and performance because your brain can only focus on one thing at a time. When you try to do two things at once, your brain lacks the capacity to perform both tasks successfully”…show more content…
In my experience this is true especially in university because of the level of freedom we are given, we tend to check our phone whenever we are alerted and then the lecturer has to stop in the middle of a point to address the lack of attention received then has to start again which is a time reductive.
