A wave crashes into the rocky coastline. The stormy sea is grey and uninviting, sending shudders of fear and cold crashing down my spine. My little brother and I sit in the shallow tide pools, chasing schools of minnows and gazing at brown crabs that scuttle quickly over rocks covered in mussels. The waves crash against these barriers, that prevent water from spraying us. Occasionally, a large wave hits, and my brother and I find ourselves drenched in water. “Allison! It’s your turn!”, my mother shouts. I quickly sprint to the sandy beach chair to grab my snorkeling gear and fins.
