Free trade is the concept of international trade without tariffs, quotas or any other trade restrictions. One of the first and best examples of free trade is the NAFTA agreement. It allows unrestricted trade between the U.S, Mexico and Canada. It has had its benefits and drawbacks on both the U.S and Mexico. Free trade has largely affected U.S workers and according to the Economics Policy institute it has had 3 large effects on U.S labor. the first of which is the loss of 700,000 jobs due to movement of manufacturing to Mexico. According to the Economics Institute most of these losses came from California, Michigan,Texas and many other states where manufacturing is concentrated into large areas causing massive job loss.
