VALLES 2012-50242 The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is a murder mystery novel written by Mark Haddon about an intelligent 15-year-old autistic boy, Christopher John Francis Boone, and his everyday experiences while trying to solve the mystery behind the murder of Wellington, Mrs. Shears’ dog. Christopher found the dog dead with a garden fork sticking out of its body. This novel for me is something new, something I can’t easily experience, something that is very different from other mainstream novels, reasons why I’ve enjoyed reading this novel. The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time revolves around a 15-year-old autistic boy. Haddon used the word autistic to describe the main character in this story.…show more content…
This made him believe in himself that he can do things on his own and solve his own problems. And with that thinking, he believes that passing a A-level math test represents security to himself that he can do well on his own and wants to prove that he is different and superior to those kids in his school. This achievement is giving him a chance to prove to his parents, to himself, to everyone that he can live on his own. Disregarding the notion that Christopher has some disability, we could say the Christopher is a unique young mathematician. He is intelligent and a logical kid but somewhat clueless to things going around him. He is very sensitive to the things around him but at same time insensitive to the people around him. Since he couldn’t put himself into other people’s shoes, he could not understand as to how other people have different preferences from him or there are times he could not even considers someone’s situation when he is trying to make a
