Taming of the shrew and 10 things i hate about you have numerous things in common, but they also have various things that contrast each other. Taming of the shrew and 10 things i hate about you have character, relationships, and the plot. In both movies, both Kat and Katherine are abusive. In 10 things, Kat is verbally abusive and cruel towards others, but she uses her tone of voice to get her way. While Katherine is more physically abusive rather than verbal, but she punches/hits people when she wants something. In 10 things there are many examples Kat uses her voice to act mean. Explain is she would always have rude comments and strong comebacks to joey when they were around each other. In Taming of the shrew ‘’Bianca: Is it because of him that you envy me? In Taming of the Shrew, Baptista wants Katherine to marry so she will leave. While, in 10 things I hate about you, Walter has a different mind set for Kat. He doesn’t want her to have a boyfriend, which means Bianca can’t have one until Kat does and that’s great to him. For example in 10 things I hate about you, the father of the girls clearly says that Bianca was not allowed to do things unless Kat had already/is doing them. Which was a plus for the father who knew Kat wouldn’t be dating anytime soon he thought anyways. In Taming of the Shrew the quote that is simpler to the father is ‘’Gentlemen, importune me no farther, for how I firmly am resolved you know. That is not to bestow my youngest daughter before i have a husband for the elder.
