During the Progressive Era, there were a lot of individuals focused on the exploration of children and women, the anxious middle class and academic research in order to solve the social and political issues. There were also people who focused on industrial workers. Progressives believed the government had the right to expand liberty by regulating economic activity in the public interest (Foner).
