The plot of this book is about two black maids who get together and do the unthinkable, help create a book about what it is like being black and working for the help with a white a women. The two black maids are Aibeleen Clark and Minny Jackson. The White Women, who aspiring to become an author, is Skeeter Phaelen. Together these three and tell each other's stories. This made Skeeter realise that black people aren’t much different from white people, that they are just humans with a different skin color. Throughout the story, the women secretly meet at night getting the book together while Skeeter is skillfully trying to hide the fact that she is writing the book.
