Simon is the visionary of the group. The other boys see him as an odd kid. He is the only one who understands the true nature of beastie, and he is the only one who is brave enough to investigate the creature. But before he can tell the boys about what he learns about it he’s killed in a ritual that went too far. Simon is a helper he actually puts in time and effort in helping Ralph build shelters. “Simon. He helps.” (Chapter 3, p. 54). After one of the littluns told the group about the beastie that hides in the woods Simon tried to reason with them explaining to the boys that the beastie they fear could be the evil inside themselves, “What I mean is ….
