Obesity is a medical condition in which excess fats are stored in an individual's body, more specifically the adipose layer which is located beneath the skin or around one's internal organs, at a point where it is detrimental to their health and overall well-being. It has also been linked to an increased risk of contracting a cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes and certain types of cancers. Yet, it was a surprisingly common indicator of wealth in the Middle Ages, though this belief is no longer the norm particularly in modernised western countries as of now. However, this condition has begun to metamorphosise into an ever wailing spectre that lurks around the corners of our streets. Fellow countrymen regardless of gender, race, religion and age are being diagnosed with obesity at an increasingly alarming rate. This ever worrisome situation becomes quite dreadful when we take into account that even the younglings are affected by it. As such, the government has taken an assortment of proactive steps in order save our fellow countrymen from the latest variation of the plague but their pro-health movement has faltered. That statement though true, is not exactly concrete either. In Malaysia, they are obese and inactive. Through indirect factors such as the increase in compactibility of electronic gadgets and gizmos as well as parents wanting an intellectually superior trophy child when compared to their colleagues', obesity became prevalent.
