“Hey hey, get up!” My mom screamed at me. “What is it mom, it’s 6:41 in the morning” I moaned as I rolled over. “We are running late, as always” she yelled. That’s when I remembered that today was the day we were going to Mackinac Island. I have been waiting for this day for over two weeks and it was finally here. I sprinted out of my room and ran straight for the bathroom. I flung the shower on and hopped in. “Ahhhhhhh” I screamed the water was so cold. I jumped out and through on a pair of shorts and a tank top. I grabbed my sandals and ran across our rocky gravel driveway right into my moms blue GMC envoy. My feet were on fire, but we were finally on our way. We drove for about ten minutes and went right past the freeway. I was so puzzled and confused, I asked my dad, “where are we going.”…show more content… “What is it!” I asked. “When I was about your age my dad took me to Mackinac, so he’s coming with us.” He said. Mackinac Island was special for my dad and at that moment I realized it was going to be special for me too. When my grandpa first got in the car I was kind of nervous. My grandpa had that old person smell and a funny wobble, but a very mean look and he sat right next to me. We pulled out of my grandparents smooth, glossy black driveway and we were on our way. Ten minutes into the drive my grandpa tapped me on the shoulder and said “you see that semi in front of us?” “Ya, what about it?” I responded. “I used to drive one just like it.
