In December 2010, I officially retired from the military and entered a new time in my life. That was a major adjustment, where I had to learn how to manage that change. Managing change involves coordinating the benefit for me and my family. In this paper, I will discuss what managing change means to me. Change includes several factors such as individual identity, collective identity, culture, and organizational . The first step is to know what the meaning of each of these identities mean: Individual Identity is made up of the personal characteristic that distinguish you from other people. Bethel University. If you did not say those two phrases when an adult talk or approached you there were consequence for the lack of respect. Good manners are long gone from there vocabularies and some parents are no better than the children that they are raising. What some of these children get away with in there households now, would not have been tolerated. On those times when children did disrespect adults it led to discipline such as spanking which left the child unable to comfortably sit or a slap across the face. I could go one and one of what would and could happen to a young person back in the day. This generation has changed a lot and not for the better you would not dare do some of the things that children are doing today. Back in the day they” says it takes a village to raise a child.” The phrase it takes a village to raise a child is an Igbo and Yoruba proverb that exists in many different African languages. It reflects the emphasis African cultures place on family and community and may have its origins in a biblical worldview. Where is the village now? There are so many young people in jail or dead.
