How much do you know about Oklahoma State University's athletic programs? Did you know that the Cowboys and Cowgirls have a combined total of 51 NCAA Championships? OSU is most notably known for it’s Olympian athletes who have represented the U.S.A. in every Olympic game since 1924. The Oklahoma State Cowboys Wrestling Team has captured 35 of the 51 NCAA Championships since it was founded in 1916 by Edward Clark Gallagher. In 1928 the NCAA held the first national tournament that the Oklahoma State Cowboys competed in. The Oklahoma State wrestling team set out to defeat their competitors, and the end the won the first ever NCAA wrestling title. The Oklahoma State football program is currently coached by Mike Gundy. The former OSU Cowboys football player started as the head coach in 2001. Mike Gundy is one of Oklahoma State’s most successful quarterbacks in their history. After Gundy graduated he joined the OSU football coaching staff, in 1990 he coached receivers, the quarterbacks in 91, 92, 93, and 95 and in 1995, and served as offensive coordinator during the 1994 season in the final year for Gundy's college coach, Pat Jones. He then went to Baylor and coached there for a season, before returning to Oklahoma State in 2001. The Oklahoma State Cowboys have had some of their most successful seasons since Mike Gundy started as head coach. Travis Ford has been the head coach for the Oklahoma State Cowboys basketball team for six years, and has a ten year contract with Oklahoma State. The team was founded by Henry Iba, who was also the first head coach for the team. While under the coaching of Iba, the OSU Cowboys won the first back-to-back NCAA National Championship in 1945 and 1946. Thy Cowboys basketball team had won 21 games and lost 13 for the 2013-2014 basketball seasons.They took part in the Big 12 conference, winning 8 of their 18 conference games. The Oklahoma State Cowboys have won two of the 51 NCAA National Championships for Oklahoma State University. They were ranked 8 at the end of the 2013-2014
