Nirvana is a band formed in Seattle, Washington around 1987. The band’s front man, Kurt Cobain, played a major part in forming the band. The original band mates, Kurt Cobain and Krist Noveselic, played all the way through the band’s career. The band came across drummer, Dave Grohl, while attending a concert where Grohl was playing for another band. Once Cobain heard Grohl play, he knew that he was not going to settle for any drummer other than Dave Grohl. After this line up of the band formed, the group experienced a magnitude of success. Nirvana is often credited with being the pioneers of the grunge genre. The band experienced huge success out of single such as “Smells like Teen Spirit”, “Come As You Are”, and one of the most controversial “Rape Me”.…show more content…
The band received a great deal of praise from the public for these albums. Nirvana had an enormous impact on the world of modern music for the short period of time that they were together. Countless bands have cited Nirvana as a source of inspiration. The simple guitar, slurred lyrics, and heavy drums played a great role in most of Nirvana’s songs. This perfect blend of instruments and vocals opened the world up to a whole new genre. The band was forced to break up after the untimely death of Kurt Cobain. Cobain was found in his house on April 5, 1994 after he had committed suicide. Cobain had been in rehab for his heroin addiction in the days prior to his suicide. Cobain’s suicide shocked the entire world. He left behind his wife, Courtney Love-Hewitt, and his son, Frances Bean Cobain. Nirvana never recovered after the suicide of Cobain. Cobain was Nirvana. He represented the band. Fans loved Cobain equally if not more than they loved Nirvana’s music. Even today, Nirvana is extremely popular.
