Music Producers: An Interesting Profession Behind every hit single, successful music artist, or catchy jingle, is a music producer. These under-appreciated architects of music must cohesively and artistically weave together the artists’ sound with the beats and melody of the song. In order to become a successful music producer, you must obtain education and training, thoroughly understand your career choice and know the demand for music producers in your current area, or your area of choice. If I were to currently work in Hawaii, I would have a hard time finding and getting a job in my field. Instead, I would be more successful in places like California, or New York where there are more opportunities in my field. A music producer should have a lexile level of 1385L. A music producer's average salary is $43,910, almost twice the amount of the average U.S citizen’s salary. Music producers’ salaries range from as low as $20,000 a year to almost $100,000 a year. In order to earn that satisfactory salary, a music producer must fulfill their responsibilities. Responsibilities vary by studio /or company, but here are the basic responsibilities of a music producer: they have to gather and come up with ideas for the recording artist, oversee album arrangement, give advice to artists/musicians, develop schedule (recording, concert, appearances) and supervise the final mixing and mastering of the music. When you become a music producer you must have an interest in music and business, specialized skill and knowledge in the music industry, and some sort of experience in music. A music producer has to be knowledgeable of a lot of different things.
