What is the difference between a witch hunt and a modern day witch hunt? Well, a witch hunt is in literal sense, a hunt for witches. A modern day witch hunt is a hunt for those who are disloyalty. Modern day witch hunts have adopted a more metaphoric definition. On December 7 1941, hundreds of Japanese fighter jets attacked an American Naval base on Pearl Harbor, an island west of Honolulu, Hawaii. After the bombing of Pearl Harbor, President Delano Roosevelt made an Executive order relocating all Japanese Americans to Internment camps. The Japanese were relocated in February 1942 and weren't set free until January 2 1945. on December 7, 1941, hundreds of Japanese fighter planes attacked an American Naval base Hawaii and killed many. Over 2,000 American soldiers and sailors were killed and about 1,000 were wounded. The Japanese destroyed over 20 American vessels including eight of their warships and about 200 of their airplanes. (Pearl Harbor). In fear of the Japanese being spies, President Roosevelt issued the Executive Order 9066 which had all Japanese Americans relocated to internment camps whether or not they were born in the U.S. The objective of the order was to prevent espionage by the Japanese descent. The Internment camps were known as the United States concentration camps. There were ten camps total. Over 127,000 U.S. citizens were imprisoned during World War II because they were of Japanese ancestry. The Japanese were being suspected of being loyal to their ancestral land. Anti-Japanese Paranoia increased due to the large population of Japanese in the west coast. (51e. Japanese-American Internment). President Roosevelt believed that what he was doing was for the greater good and that it was the right thing to do to protect the people of the United States.
