The title of the book for my second quarter book report is “Journey to the Centre of the Earth” and it is an 1871 sci-fi book written by Jules Verne. The setting places that occurred in the story are in Hamburg(Germany), Reykjavik(Iceland), and Center of the Earth. Most of the action took place at the Center of the Earth. The author chose this setting because he wants to show the hidden mysteries and other interesting things that would occur in the Center of the Earth. The characters in the story were Professor Hardwigg or Lieden Brock, Harry or Axel, Hans, Martha, and Grauben or Gretchen. Professor Hardwigg or Lieden Brock is a person who would do anything to accomplish his discovery and he wouldn’t even eat or sleep just to find out the real answer of the problem like Arne Saknussemm’s secret code or writing on where the center of the earth is. Harry or Axel is the grandson of Professor Hardwigg, he is the kind of guy who doesn’t want to be in adventures since he’s a coward but he only went to Iceland because Grauben told him to go, and he was the one who actually solved Arne Saknussemm’s secret code n the location of the Center of the Earth…show more content… The author got the message from probably solving his own riddle since it is a science fiction book, In this line from the book: "I Declare," cried my uncle, striking the table fiercely with his fist, "I declare to you it is Runic--and contains some wonderful secret, which I must get at, at any price.", the author shows us on how hard they thought and opinionated on what language is the code of Arne Saknussemm. To real life, it actually is similar to students or people who worked hard to find the answer to their problems and always move forward. The author wants us to know that we can sometimes do things alone or with a companion to accompany you all the
