Don't think that the only way you can properly cook a burger is outside on a grill. In fact, cooking meats and other entree foods sous vide is becoming more and more popular among modernist chefs. It's essentially hands-off cooking after the prep work, and the result is food cooked exactly to your liking.
One of the more famous food items from the city of Minneapolis is a burger that goes by the name of Juicy Lucy. Interestingly enough, there is still some controversy surrounding the mysterious creation of this delightful take on a classic cheeseburger. Two bars down the street from each other in Minneapolis, Matt's Bar and the 5-8 Club both claim to be the creators of the famous Juicy Lucy burger.
