James Taylor is an inspiration to songwriters and musicians of all kinds all over the world. He is great at writing in a way that connects with audiences of all kinds. For more than forty years James has been a guide for his fans and through his music he lets other people know that they are not alone. James Taylor is a successful musician who has written a lot of songs in his career that are liked by people around the globe. James Vernon Taylor was born on March 12, 1948, In Boston, Massachusetts. At the age of 3, he moved with his family to North Carolina, where he lived for the rest of his childhood. His family had a lot of money and usually spent summers on Martha’s Vineyard, off the coast of Massachusetts. James’ father, Isaac Taylor, was a physician. His mother, Gertrude Taylor, was a singer. When James was young he learned to play a few instruments like the cello and the guitar. He has sold over 100 million albums throughout his career, he began in 1968 when he was signed to the Beatles’ Apple Records. In 1971, Taylor was featured on the cover of a Time Magazine and was called the harbinger of the singer-songwriter era. His songs have had a huge influence on the songwriters and music lovers from everywhere. He has earned 40 gold, platinum, and multi platinum awards and five Grammy Awards for songs like, James Taylor made in 1968, Sweet Baby James made in 1970, Hourglass made in 1997 and October Road made in 2002. His first Greatest Hits album earned the Recording Industry Association of America’s elite Diamond Award, given for sales over 10 million in the United States.
