Cold wind hits my face as I stare blankly at the ground while the leaves run along the sidewalk. I can’t help think about it, what I could have done. Nothing. That’s the hardest part about this whole thing. You know what I talking about, the feeling of wanting to desperately help, but there’s nothing you can do. Your stomach drops every time you think about it, your mood goes from happy to don’t talk to me at all. Its single handedly the most gut wrenching feeling aside from dying. Either sleeping or crying. I start to wonder what it would be like if I wasn’t here, who would care? My parent? No, all he does his come home from work and get drunk. My aunt? Cousins….friends? I don’t even know what to do anymore. People are starting to ask questions, Are you okay? What’s wrong? Same old thing every day. Went from a B student to failing 3 out of my 5 classes. The worlds just slowly, sinking in getting deeper and deeper every day. This pain has no end. I can’t help to think why or how? What did I do…To deserve something like this. “I’m fine, just tired” I say. “I feeling a little tired to.” He starts to dig in his pocket and he pulls out his wallet. In the little compartment next to the big place where all the dollar bills go, he pulls out to little rectangles of paper. One is kind of tie die and has a picture of an alien on it. The other I couldn’t really see because the shadow of his thick winter coat blocked the light from the street lamp. He clears his throat and says “Aliens, or Mind bender” I thought to myself, I could really use something for my mind. Without thinking I tell him mind bender. I asked him what it was, He just responded with this. “Mind medicine.” The weirdest feeling comes over my mind, as if he already knew what was going on in my head. It was like an instant connection with the little conversation we’ve had, I feel like I’ve known him since day one.
