Literary Analysis: “Try” by Colbie Caillat
“Try” by Colbie Caillat centers around the idea of valuing self love over peer acceptance. A very apparent statement in this song is that one must learn to love themselves inside and out. In society today, it is encouraged for women to change to be “beautiful”. Because of this, women try so hard to perfect the outside image when what’s on the inside is what matters most. Girls begin to obsess over what they look like and how others think of them at a very young age. (Caillat, “Try”)
