Like many interesting works of art, its beauty is beyond appearance and much about the story behind it. In ancient Greek times heroes and gods played an important role in history. Hercules and Theseus were two of the most interesting heroes of their time. The similarities between the two were as great as the differences. Both were born of human mothers and had divine fathers. Hercules was the son of Zeus the god of the sky and of the Olympian gods. Theseus was the son of Aegeus or Poseidon. Nobody knows for certain.
