“Reading is like dreaming with your eyes wide open.” - when YoYo said this, he was referring like in the book Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, the reader is capable to imagine how the scenes are played out. Though when watching the movie, the producers lay it out how they want the audience to view it and the movie leaves no room for imagination. With the book, however, it draws a few of the scenes out greater than the movie does. The book allows the reader’s visual to be more active than when a viewer is watching the movie. In the beginning, mostly what is distinctive between the book and the movie is how the scenes first set out and play. In the book, it begins with telling about the lives of the Dursley’s and how even though Petunia Dursley is the sister of Lily Potter, they refuse to have anything to do concerning them. In the movie, it cuts straight to Dumbledore, McGonagall, and Hagrid bringing Harry to 4 Privet Drive, the Dursley’s home, and leaving him on their doorstep to be found the next morning. The stories that are given in the book of how Harry Potter was treated is removed from the movie. The movie does not demonstrate examples of the weird accidents that happen to Harry before he knows he is a wizard. The book tells the reader of mysterious incidents in detail that happen as Harry is growing up that he has no explanation for. For example, Harry’s Aunt Petunia shaved his whole head except his bangs, to cover up his scar, because when he receives a haircut, it would always look like he never even received one. Somehow, the next morning when he woke up to go to school, all his hair was grown back to the way it was before. The book allows the reader to have a bigger visual of how Harry was growing up and discovering his powers than the movie
