In this section, the authors look at how tourism is a major contributor to the Gulf Coast economy and how the wetland loss in the costal states affects it. It talks about how tourism in the 5 coastal states provides a boost in the economy. Louisiana also known as “Sportsman’s Paradise” supports its name by the amount of money spent on 3 major tourism activities: wildlife watching, recreational fishing, and hunting. The vast numbers of fish and wildlife attract millions of visitors from out of state, as well as Louisiana’s natives, to wetlands for hunting and fishing.
