In the story “Seventh Grade”, by Gary Soto, the main character, Victor, embarrasses himself while trying to impress a girl. He learns, however, that he needs to be himself. For example, when Teresa asked if he was Victor he said, “Yeah that’s me.” This shows that he was embarrassed and should've said something else. This is important because it describes how Victor felt after Teresa asked him a question. Additionally, Victor embarrassed himself when he tried to speak French in front of the whole class and Tresa when he knew he couldn’t speak French.
