I had everything a teenager can ever think of while growing up in the wealthy neighborhood of Brooklyn Heights, New York. In 2002 my father was arrested for drug trafficking, and was sentenced to 6 years in federal prison I was thirteen years old. I would’ve never thought things could’ve gotten any worst, but I was wrong. In the 2007, my mother would also become incarcerated for conspiracy in drug trafficking. I was devastated, and was emotionally torn apart as I sat on a flight towards Cali, Colombia to live with my aunt. I was terrified of the new journey, but it was a journey that would eventually change my life, and make me appreciate the little things in life.
