The Army Profession divides into five main categories to express the importance of what we as a cohesive unit must have and understand to maintain the camaraderie of our organization. The five categories are Trust, Military Expertise, Honorable Service, Esprit de Corps, and Stewardship of the Profession. I believe Trust, Esprit de Corps, and Honorable Service serve as the most important characteristics and in this paper, I will discuss the reasons why and how they tie in to the Army Ethic. To begin with, Soldiers develop a unique kind of trust that allows us to carry on and adapt to the many different situations in rapidly changing environments. These environments can range from peacekeeping missions in war torn countries, providing humanitarian aid both home and abroad and of course combat operations. Trust is “assured reliance on the character, ability, strength, or truth of someone or something. It is the essence of being an effective Soldier.” (ADP 1, The Army, 2013). Honorable service is the commitment and dedication given by a member of the Army Profession of Arms to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic. Service members willing go into harm’s way in the name of freedom and democracy; ensuring every American can enjoy their freedoms without worry of attacks from foreign or domestic adversaries. In addition, Soldiers provide foreign aid and peacekeeping operations helping our government to build strong long lasting partnerships with foreign nations and there peoples. The hardships Soldiers and their families endure while serving are immeasurable, however, they continue repeatedly with honorable
