Although the play "Romeo and Juliet" has been made into movies many times before, no one has ever captured this love as Zeffirelli did. “The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet” is a classic play created by the astonishing author, William Shakespeare, who emphasizes the main idea of two star- crossed lovers who take a trip in a rollercoaster of tears. The play was then made into the movie, “Romeo and Juliet” in the year 1968 and overall it was a great movie. The movie expressed many different themes and vibes from the play to the movie. Olivia Hussey as Juliet did an amazing job playing as Juliet because she captured all of the emotions the character goes through. When Juliet finds out that Romeo is banished, just like in the play, Olivia does an incredible job of expressing that emotion. She truly was dedicated to the part, and when working with the actor playing Romeo, they did an absolute stunning job. The actor, Leonard Whiting, as Romeo showed great chemistry with Juliet in each and every scene they were together. When Romeo fights Tybalt, the part where Mercutio is stabbed by Tybalt, it seems as more of an accident than it did in the play. This makes the movie have a more sad tone to it because Romeo gets mad and kills Tybalt, but we, the audience, knows he did not mean to. The anger Leonard shows when killing Tybalt is just spot on. The actor who played as Mercutio, John McEnery, really digs into the humor Mercutio possess which is astonishing in the actual movie. The actors did better than I expected, but there were still faults in the movie
