Of Mice and Men was the movie that I chose to watch for my film paper, because I read the book for it a while ago in my English class and I really enjoyed it. The characters in the book were all fascinating and all had very different personalities. I watched the film because I wanted to see how the characters from the book would be portrayed in a movie. When I read Of Mice and Men, I wondered what the characters looked like, how they spoke, and what their personalities would be like. Watching the movie cleared those things up for me. I also enjoy reading books and watching the movies that go along with them, because I like to be able to find differences between them. The major theme in this film that really stood out to me was friendship. The bond between Lennie and George is important for the survival of them both, but in different ways. In my opinion, friends are the most important part of life. Just like George and Lennie would do anything for each other, I would do anything for my friends, and I know they would do anything for me. Friendship can be looked at from many different perspectives. According to me, a true friend is someone who will stick with me through the good times and the bad times in life. A true friend doesn’t judge me for who I am, they accept me for who I am. A healthy friendship needs to be mutual. My friends are always honest with me, and they can expect the same thing in return. I know that while I’m going through rough patches in my life that I am never alone, because I have friends that support me and would do anything for me. George and Lennie’s friendship was obvious in the end of the film when George killed Lennie for Lennie’s own good. George knew that he would have to suffer in the future because he wouldn’t have Lennie by his side, but he did what was in the best interest of Lennie. George saved Lennie by making his death quick rather than Lennie being tortured and killed by Curly and his group. George was a true friend to Lennie, because he was willing to sacrifice anything for the wellbeing of
