Although the Great Khanate in China and the Golden Horde in Russia were both under 13th and 14th century Mongol rule, both were successful economically while differing in their political style. Politically, the Mongols’ control over China was much more direct than in the Golden Horde, which was more decentralized in organization. Economically, the union of a large empire under Mongol rule allowed for a blossoming of trade and prosperity throughout the kingdoms.
