Everyone has heard of Cleopatra before. She is one of the most famous female rulers in history but did you truly know who she was and what she did? Cleopatra VII Thea Philopator well known as Cleopatra was the goddess of beauty. She was born on October 69 BC in Alexandria, Egypt and died on August 12, 31 BC. Cleopatra was the last pharaoh of Ancient Egypt. She reigned for twenty one years but she went through many lengths to reign. Cleopatra was the queen of Egypt but she was not an Egyptian. In her family she was the only one who learned how to speak Coptic, an Egyptian language. Coptic was not the only language she learned. She knew about 12 different languages. She was the goddess of beauty but her life was not as easy as it seemed. She was the goddess of beauty but to get where she did it took a lot of sleeping around and killing.…show more content… Her life was put into books, movies, and plays. Even Shakespeare wrote something about her called ANtony and Cleopatra. She was famous back then and she is still today. Her father was King Ptolemy XII but there there is not much information on her mother. Her family are traced back from the Macedonian house. Cleopatra had two younger brothers and three sisters. The eldest brother always rules after the death of the father. Her younger brother, Ptolemy XIII who was older than the other one, took the throne after their father died. Ptolemy XIII was married to Cleopatra but he later got jealous of her power and he wanted the throne all to himself. In 48 B.C.E Cleopatra was forced out of Egypt by her jealous husband and his army. He later died at the age of 44 after being drowned during a fight with
