Have you ever been away from home for 20 years? The main character in The Odyssey is a guy named Odysseus. He is called to fight in the Trojan war on Troy island because he is a great warrior and shows no mercy when he is at battle. He is trying his best to make it back to Ithaca, his hometown, to see his gorgeous wife and his newly born son. He has to make it back before his son grows a beard or else someone else will be crowned king. Odysseus exhibits determination, intelligence, and leadership on his journey home to Ithaca. Odysseus wasn’t a king just because they chose him. He is a tremendous leader to all his men. On his journey, there are challenges that they face that makes him step up and be a leader. He never once gave up on them during the way when they lost six men to Scylla or when Circe turned some of his men into pigs.Odysseus led them the right way and never gave up any steps of the way. He tried his best to keep his men alive, but sometimes it’s the survival of the fittest.…show more content…
He was the most clever man alive during that time period. The things he came up with were just so clever that they would work on any god. They were trapped with the cyclops in a cave when they needed to escape very quickly. He came up with a plan to hide under some sheep after they poke him in the eye because he will be blind and won’t be able to see them. So they poked the cyclops in the eye and told him his name was Nobody so when the other cyclops came to ask who did it he said Nobody did it. The cyclops let the sheep out and Odysseus and his men were all hiding under separate sheep and his plan was successful. His intelligent brain also came up the Trojan horse. He didn’t tell anybody about Calypso and Circe when he returned
