In the 1998 film, Blade, the main character Blade is perceived to the audience as a hero of the film. A hero can be represented in many myths and are often faced with various obstacles throughout their journey. The Hero’s myth will reveal basic components that explain how the hero became to be. It explains the abstract approach to how the hero might overcome obstacles, and how he will return back to the ordinary world. In the movie Blade, the world is overcome by vampires but many people are oblivious to this and continue their lives in normal routine. At birth, our hero, Blade, is part of what he despises most, though the vampire side of Blade gives him many advantages. The frantic nurses and doctors had to do an emergency C-section to ensure the life of the unborn child. This miracle birth gave life to the orphaned hero of the film, Blade, but also gave him the supernatural darkness he loathes. A couple of years later, a young couple arrive at a nightclub. The young redhead woman lures the unaware guy into the club which is staged as a butcher house for animals. The audience is immediately informed of the unsettling bizarre aspect of the movie when the nightclub turns into a “blood bath.” In this scene, all of the average looking people began to drink the blood raining from the ceiling and dancing with their fangs revealed. As the vampires try to suck the blood of the petrified young man, their attention is instantly grabbed by a tall man wearing all black with dark sunglasses. The vampires yelled that he is the “daywalker”, and seemed terrified of Blade. At this point of the movie, the Hero leaves the ordinary world. At the end of the club scene Blade faces a familiar vampire, Quinn, whom he pins to the wall with silver stakes and sets him on fire. As soon as the police go to the crime scene Blade has vanished leaving the burnt Quinn for dead.
