Ascites Narrative

I was nine years old, when my mother was diagnosed with Ascites. Ascites are when fluid builds up inside the abdomen. “Ascites usually occurs when the liver stops working properly” said the doctor in the ER room. This was a wakeup call for my family. My mother hadn’t been sick in twelve years, so my family was blindsided by this spontaneous disease. My family depended on my mom’s versatility whether it was doctor appointments or a normal day at home, our mother was there for us. This affected me because we weren’t used to not seeing our mother every day. Luckifilly, with the proper medication, my mother was treated and life was back to the usual. It was a normal September day and all my siblings were playing outside while I was inside playing my favorite video game “Farcry 3” as usual, when a loud “thump” took place upstairs. I went upstairs to investigate what that loud thump was. I saw my mother on the ground, so I yelled “Help” as loud as I could, while I was in a state of shock and couldn’t move. My uncle thought that him coming over, would distract us from our mother, but it didn’t we were all in a room, while my uncle was busy and discussed what had happened earlier that day. When my father came home, we were all worried he was going to be mad, but he wasn’t he was relieved as he came in the door normally and yelled “Hey kids I’m here”. We proceeded to the door and all walked down the stairs and greeted him like usual. We were shocked, but when we asked him why he wasn’t worried, he told us about our mother’s condition and said it was curable. We were all excited and relieved for our mother.
