The reading states that the smart cars promise to make driving safer, quicker, and less expensive and provides three reasons of support. However, the professor explains that it's not clear that using of the smart cars will produce benefits and refutes each of the authors' reasons. First, the reading states that smart cars will prevent many accidents, thereby saving lives. The professor counters this point by saying that accidents will happen with the smart cars because technological advices also fail or make mistakes sometimes. The professor states that the smart cars will be packed to each others and that will increase the accidents and the accidents will be worsen than today. Therefore, the smart cars will not save lives. Second, the
