In 1810 to 1840 the development of American Empire was marked by federal style for decades. This style collected features of the English Regency and French Empire styles which is a French-inspired Neoclassical style of American furniture and decoration that takes its name and originates from the Empire style introduced during the First French Empire period under Napoleon's rule of the same period of time. It has a great impact in the popularity in the U.S. Later on, in 1810, there was more robust phase of the Neoclassical style, which emphasizes the Adam style in Britain and Louis Seize, however, in France, in the early 19th century, it expressed architecture, furniture, and other decorative arts, as well as visual arts.…show more content…
Additionally, there are many major furniture centers renowned for regional interpretations of the American Empire style such as, Boston, Philadelphia, and Baltimore. The examples of American Empire cabinetmaking are characterized by the antiquities-inspired carving, gilt-brass furniture mounts, and also decorative inlays such as stamped-brass banding with egg and diamond. The piece of art of the furniture in this style was made around 1815 was incorporating columns with rope-twist carving, animal-paw feet, anthemion, stars, and acanthus-leaf ornamentation, sometimes in combination with gilding and vert antique.
