People say, “you don’t know what you have until it’s gone.” Which happens to be true. In my case, I had lost the use of the left side of my collarbone for three months. It was cold. The kind of cold that had you wearing multiple layers and some people didn’t even step foot outside. But being on a winter church retreat gave us no choice but to brave the elements and head to the sledding hill. The hill was illuminated by various street lamps, yet no one in the sledding group noticed the huge jump at the bottom of the sledding hill. The hill was slicked with more ice than snow, which made the trip down seem ten times faster. My first time going down the steep hill exhilarating. The cold winter wind nipped at my exposed cheeks and wrapped around my frozen limbs. My bones already ached from the dropping temperatures.…show more content…
I gladly handed over my sled and took hers. My next ride down seemed to go on in slow motion and fast forward all at the same time. I felt like I was flying down the hill. Then, for about 2 seconds, I was. I hit the jump at the bottom of the hill at full speed and sailed through the air. My frigid fingers couldn’t grip the sled.
