This document contains the first 10 amendments of the constitution that write out the most basic privileges that every citizen is entitled to. The Bill of Rights was ratified and set into place in 1791 after the constitution was already ratified but was deemed necessary because the powers that the government held needed to be limited and the power that the people have, had to be set in place. The Bill of Rights was created after the constitution was ratified on June 21, 1788. Originally 12 amendments were approved for the Bill of Rights by congress, but the first two were not ratified.
