The book starts out with Donald being an everyday guy in Missouri. But when Pearl Harbor happened, he knew that we were going to go to war. Donald did not want to get drafted and go into the infantry so he decided to join the military. Donald Nichols got up to an Acting Corporal in the military. His job was to train troops and send them to the U.S. base in the Philippines. And also was sent to the base. Other that the main character, there was one other character that was talked about a lot. This guys name was Tony. Tony was Donald’s best friend when he was in the military. During the attacks and everything, Donald and Tony were together all of the time. They never left each others sides. These are the two main characters in the book. My opinion on the book is that it was good. It can be a boring too read books about history but You Can't Conquer Them tells the path that Donald took during World War II and I thought it was interesting to read about. Just like in class, I like hearing all the stories that when on in all the wars. I recommend this book that is interested in learning some small stuff about World War II or would enjoy to read about Donald’s very interesting
