Winston Churchill, Prime Minister of Great Britain, had warned his countrymen about the German Führer Adolf Hitler and his powerful military, but many people chose not to listen to Churchill and his warnings because they wanted to avoid the possibly of another violent world war. Hitler soon became more powerful though. He took over the Rhineland, Sudetenland, with no problems and then Hitler aimed for Poland. Great Britain had sworn to defend Poland if Hitler had decided to invade. On September 1, 1939, Germany invaded Poland, and finally Britain declared war on Germany along with France.
