Are Romeo and Juliet really in love? Some people might ask because the actions they take can make people believe either way. They are very irresponsible and don't make very smart decisions from when they first meet to the very end of the story. Here are three strong reasons on why Romeo and Juliet really aren't in love. They get married within hours of meeting each other, no one is supportive of their relationship, and their young and irresponsible. Romeo and Juliet get married just 24 hours after meeting each other. In act 2, scene 4, Romeo says “tell her to devise a plan to get out of her house and come to confession at the abbey this afternoon. She thinks she fell in love after meeting Romeo one time. In act 2, scene 2 Juliet says, “ Oh, Romeo, Romeo, why do you have to be Romeo? Forget about your father change your name. Or else, if you won’t change your name, just swear you love me and i’ll stop being a Capulet.” Juliet is saying she loves Romeo and just met hours before.Juliet made a irresponsible decision by taking the sleeping potion, in act 4, scene 1 Friar Lawrence says, “Hold on, then. Go home, be cheerful, and tell them you agree to marry Paris. Tomorrow is wednesday. Tomorrow night make sure that you are alone. Don't let the nurse stay with you in your bedroom. When in your bed, take this vial, mix its contents with liquor, and drink. Then a cold, sleep inducing drug will run through your veins, and your pulse will stop. Your flesh will be cold, and you will stop breathing. The red in your lips and your cheeks will turn pale, and your eyes will shut. It will seem like your dead. You won't be able to move, and your body will be stiff like a corpse. You'll remain in this death like state for forty-two hours, and then you'll wake up as if from a pleasant sleep”. This is saying she would rather risk her life than tell her parents what is going on. This is showing they are too young to be in love. The Tragic story of Romeo and Juliet was not a love story. They only knew each other for a few hours before saying they loved each other and getting married. None of their family was supportive or agreed with their decisions, and they made poor and irresponsible choices. They decided if they could not be together than they would kill themselves. All of these examples prove why the story of Romeo and Juliet it's lust not
