For this week's chapter review I decided to continue reading Barbara Deangelis's, "What Women Want Men To Know." The main focus of this chapter is how men and women have different ways of relating to time. To women, time is not something that simply passes or way to measure human's experience of living. Deangelis defines it as "Time is something we are very intimate, and therefore something we honor and hold sacred." Women are able to notice time in way that is more intimate then men. Menstruation. The moment a girl begins menstruating is the moment they become conscious of time. Whereas for the husband, it only seemed like he was gone for a while. Deangelis goes on to explain that there is a reason why men and women experience time so differently. For men, it seems like they tend to put themselves in the present moment, in terms of relationships. For women they tend to put themselves through future moments. Counting time is more natural to women because women are always counting time and as a result they are always more aware of cycles then men. One of the things that women do to express their relationship with time is honoring these cycles of experiences by celebrating. Just today I was watching Park's and Rec and women "honoring cycles of time" reminds me of Leslie Knope. Leslie Knope is the type of person to celebrate almost anything, and when she celebrates these special events she always has a way of getting the best gift for the other person. In the episode I watched today she got Ben(her boyfriend) the Iron Throne. (Ben is a huge fan of Game of Thrones) It seems like women always have something to express for and I think celebrating experiences is just a way to symbolize the experiences you've had with your significant
