The Accomplishments of Edvard Grieg Although many people in the modern era do not recognize the name Grieg, a lot people who were alive around the time he was alive knew about him. He was around during the Romantic Era, many times considered the best era of music, and it is deemed this rightfully so. His music is actually part of the standard classical music that is even listened to today. Edvard Grieg was able to put forth a wonderful musical image for not only him, but his country, Norway, which helped put Norway into consideration for international appreciation of music. Like many composers, he showed his personal emotions in his music, therefore developing a strong connectivity with the composer (him), the band, and the audience. Edvard Grieg is highly celebrated, and there are actually many statues and even buildings…show more content… Some of these buildings (all located in Bergen) include the city's largest building (Grieg Hall), its most advanced music school (Grieg Academy), its professional choir (Edvard Grieg Kor), and even private companies (Grieg Music). There is also an Edvard Grieg Museum in Troldhaugen that is also dedicated to his legacy, and this is his former home.
Edvard Grieg accomplished many things throughout his lifetime, and how he began was pretty impressive. He was born to a merchant and vice-consul father along with a mother who taught music. Since his mother did in fact teach music, Edvard Grieg was granted the luxury of learning how to play the piano at the young age of six, and although he was not a young prodigy like the infamous Mozart, this did help him in his future of music.
