Have you ever thought deeply about life and where it’s taking you? Have you ever thought about where you wanna be or where you’re going? Have you ever thought where you’re treasure is that you’re working for in life? Well, in the story “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho, the true meaning of the story is that if you make the right decisions in life, you’ll find your treasure. This was shown throughout the character Santiago and his journey throughout the story and the many experiences he went through along the way. There’s a point in the story where the the alchemist and the protagonist, Santiago are conversating and the alchemist tells Santiago “Wherever your heart is, there you will find your treasure. You’ve got to find the treasure, so that everything you have learned along the way can make sense.” What the alchemist is trying to tell Santiago by this is that he’s come a long way throughout the story, and that he can’t quit now because his treasure is near. This can relate to us and the theme of the story because no matter how hard a situation may seem, you have to power through it because the reward is always worth…show more content…
The protagonist Santiago does just that, he makes a hard decision to pursue his treasure disregarding the difficult situation he is in. At this point in the story Santiago tells the alchemist “I’m going in search of my treasure” and “I’m close to it now.” By saying this Santiago confirms that he is going to go in search of his treasure despite the fact that he will be without the help of the alchemist so he knows the journey will difficult without his guidance. This decision was arguably the most important decision of his life because in the end it led him to his treasure that he was looking for and even rewards he wasn’t looking for. Just a prime example that if you make wise decisions in life you will be rewarded
