Difference Between Movie and Book (The Maze Runner) The novel The Maze Runner by: James Dashner is a story about group of children that wake up without the ability to remember anything, in a large maze. The children’s goal is to find the exit to the maze while evading creatures called grievers. The maze is run by 2 boys named Alby and Newt who are essentially the leaders of the glade. Directly after Thomas’s arrival a girl (the only girl) named Teresa arrives. Her arrival however is later revealed to be the last. This also meant that their regular supply shipments would end. It is eventually revealed that the maze displays words. Thomas believes that by going to the top of the cliff where grievers come from they could finally figure out how to leave the maze. Similar to many popular books recently The Maze Runner was made into a movie. Often there is debate among the supporters of the initial book about the similarity of the book VS movie and whether or not the movie does justice to the book.…show more content…
In the novel the characters are portrayed as teenagers however the actual actors in the movie are in their mid-20s. This does not create any problems in terms of how the characters are portrayed or the way they interact. That being said besides the actors there are other differences between the 2 versions. A crucial point in the book is the death of the character Chuck by the hand of Gally. In the book Thomas’s rage is shown by him immediately attacking Gally whereas in the movie Gally is simply killed by Minho’s spear. “I promised him!" he screamed, realizing even as he did so that his voice was laced with something wrong.
