In the film right after the Ray gets done building the baseball field. It transitions to him and his wife Annie laying down on a blanket in the outfield. While laying there he starts to tell his wife about the story that his farther passed down to him about seeing the older Joe. For the most part this conversation is carried over with accuracy only leaving out the bit about pointing out that Joe was wearing shoes when later seen and a few other subtle things. Although the content of the conversation was passed over nearly identically from the book, the contexts of the conversations were very different.
