Kiva Loans is a non-profit organization with an aim to join people through lending to alleviate poverty. It was founded in 2005 by Matt Flannery and Jessica Jackley. Kiva’s ambition derives from their vision where all people are able to create an opportunity for themselves and others. Kiva Loans works with a number of organizations to find borrowers (people without access to traditional banking systems) and carry out loans. Kiva calls these organizations Field Partners. They play a critical role in the system, as they disburse loans and post stories on the site for lenders to learn about when browsing for borrowers.
