After reading the excerpt about The United Continental Merger, I must say I in one sense believe that the functional integration teams were an effective and efficient approach, and then on the other hand, I do not. What I do think the forming of the functional integration teams did for the merging of the two organization’s was successfully pull both organizations employees together to brainstorm what each of their separate organizations strengths’ and weaknesses were. Based on their findings, both United and Continental were able to wean out what they thought would not work during the merge, and try to focus their attention on the vitality of the two airlines.
