Compare and Contrast Osseous Tissue vs. Adipose Tissue The primary function for osseous tissue (or bone tissue) is to give our bodies structure, while adipose tissue (or fat tissue) is used for protection. To get more detailed though, more differences include the following: Our adipose tissue is right under our skin (subcutaneous fat), around internal organs (visceral fat), in bone marrow (yellow bone marrow), intermuscular (Muscular system) and in the breast tissue. As is listed, adipose tissue is found in specific parts of the body. These parts are collectively known as adipose depots.
